Director of Resource Development

The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee is ready to hire a creative, energetic individual with enough fundraising and relationship development experience to expand our resource development efforts beyond our current capacity.  Our mission of providing sanctuary for elephants and educating children and adults about the plight of elephants worldwide, has attracted more than 29,000 gifts annually, strong internet presence, and over 75,000 individuals and organizations who receive our newsletters.  

The responsibilities for this position will include resource development and communications.  

• Resource development will include
• Membership programs
• Gift shop sales
• Grants
• Planned giving
• Special events
• And other creative and effective ways to gain support for our mission

Communications efforts will need to ensure that the Sanctuary’s philosophy of sanctuary, mission, values, and activities are communicated appropriately to targeted audiences.  Currently we communicate via the website, Facebook and Twitter, as well as email and hard copy newsletters.  We have been fortunate to receive good media coverage and want that to grow.

This Director of Resource Development will also be on the team helping create the strategic marketing plan for the Education Gallery.  This responsibility includes oversight of all communications, community awareness and public relations for the Ed Gallery until such time as we hire a full time Education Director.
