Feed an Elephant for a Day

Searching for the perfect gift for the person who has everything? Looking for a unique way to honor a friend or loved one or just want to help the elephants? We have three options for you. You can feed one or two elephants for one or more days or you can feed all our elephants for a day.

The recipient will receive a biography, which includes a 4" x 6" photo of the elephant(s) chosen and membership for one year with a subscription to our Trunklines newsletter, making this gift a great way to educate friends and family about everyone's role in helping needy elephants.

How much food does an elephant eat?

Feeding for the elephants starts at the barn in the kitchen area, where caregivers prepare the diets of grain, supplements and produce.

Each diet may be a bit different, according to the individual dietary needs of the Girls. Once diets are mixed and produce added, the caregivers load them up in the front basket of the 4-wheeler, put some hay on the back and off they go to find the elephants in the habitat. Once they find them, their meal is placed on the ground with a safe distance between caregiver and elephant.

If the Girls are eating inside the barn, the caregivers place the food down on a flake of hay which is then pushed through the bars using a broom to ensure the Caregiver remains a safe distance while the elephant enjoys her meal.

With a $30.00 or more donation you will receive an 8 1/2 X 11 biography of the elephant you choose which includes a 4 X 6 photo and membership for one year with a subscription to our Trunklines newsletter and a tax receipt. Donations less than $30.00 will receive a tax receipt only.

The cost to feed an elephant for one day is $30.00. You can also choose to feed all 14 of our Girls for one day by donating $420.00.

As you can see, elephants consume a large volume of food, but they only utilize 48% of their diet. This is what makes elephant manure some of the best around. The Sanctuary uses the manure for fertilizer and composting but we are not allowed to move it off property.
