A new chapter of social exploration is unfolding at The Sanctuary as Tange and Nosey have begun sharing habitat space. After becoming familiar with one another across a shared fence line, Tange and Nosey have been spending time together recently in both Willow and Sleepy Hollow habitats. Even with 60 acres to explore, Caregivers have observed the two remaining near one another, following and foraging as they become more familiar with sharing space.
Tange and Nosey have not yet been observed engaging in tactile interactions, and Caregivers are encouraging their relationship to develop at its own pace. Overnight camera footage has provided another glimpse into this process, showing them choosing to rest near one another.
Tange has also been exploring areas in Willow that she visits less frequently. Caregivers observed her rubbing her mud-covered body against trees, grazing for extended periods, and breaking pine limbs to forage.
Meanwhile, at Redbud Habitat, Flora has been following a routine of her own. After temporary habitat maintenance limited access to the North Habitat—an area she regularly visits—Flora settled near North Pipeline, where plentiful grasses and a wallow have provided plenty of reasons to stay. She has spent much of the late summer grazing, wallowing, and moving through the habitat at her leisure.
