You can help with Delhi's expenses by contributing one of the articles listed below.
- A Larger Corral for DELHI!
Delhi's corral costs $20.50 per foot. You can underwrite one foot of Delhi's corral or a complete ten-foot section. Give you friends and family the most unique Holiday gift this season!
If you would like to contribute to this project in the name of a friend or family member or simply for yourself, you may do so on our secure on-line form, or you may email delhicorral@elephants.com
USDA will determine the length of time Delhi is required to remain quarantined in separate familities from the other elephants. Freedom of movement is paramount to her recovery. To better address her long-term needs we have erected 1000 feet of corral fencing to give Delhi more room to roam. The corral cost $20,500.

The USDA has requested that Delhi's foot care and recovery be meticulously documented. This requires not only a written account of her treatment and recovery but also extensive photo records of her feet from now until the time she is completely healed.
To meet this photo obligation we need to purchase a digital camera. Photos will be taken of Delhi's feet virtually on a daily basis. Foot soaks, trims, as well as the ongoing condition of her feet will be documented through the photographs. A catalog of photographs will be sent electronically to Dr. Ed Ramsay ikn Knoxville on a weekly basis. This way Delhi's progress can be monitored continualy, between the veterinarian's on-site visits, thereby affording Delhi the most proactive vet care possible.
- X-ACTO blades - Thanks to everyone who donated these. We are fully stocked for now.
It takes precision, skill and sharp knives to trim the pad and nails of an elephant's foot. We use X-ACTO blades for two reasons: they come in a variety of styles and are disposable. The different blade shapes enable us to do an exact job when trimming. The goal is to take off just enough of the pad and nail. The precision necessary can only be attained with the proper tools. Since X-ACTO blades are disposable, our foot trimming tools are always sanitary and sharp. With Tina and Delhi both in need of intensive feet care, we are going through several blades each week.
We wish to thank Carol Bresnay, Bonnie Mitchell, Janet Crystal, Norma Peddle, & Birgit Herlev for responding to this request.
