Delhi
was captured in the wilds of India over 55 years ago. Her entire
captive life has been spent traveling and performing with circuses.
Her most identifying characteristic is her speckled appearance.
This natural depigmentaton increases with age and is as unique
to each elephant as a person’s finger prints.
She
is a petite elephant but her pot belly gives her the appearance
of being stocky. Her ears are large and feathery, with a trim
of depigmentaton along the lower edge.
If
you observe Delhi from the side you will notice that she has an
unnatural stance. Instead of her legs placed directly underneth
her body, her front legs extend forward and her back legs extend
at an angle backwards. We have no explanation for this unnatural
stance.
