Party for the Planet Conservation Challenge #4

EleCrafts are simple activities for all ages to bring out the artist in you! These crafts can be completed with supplies you likely already have on-hand at home. If you don’t have the same supplies we do, you can easily make substitutions.

Supplies:

  • Cereal Box
  • Black marker
  • Elephant colored paint
  • Googly eyes (optional)
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Step 1:
Open the top and bottom of the cereal box. Cutoff all the folding flaps on both the top and bottom. Keep at least 1 of these pieces, the rest can be recycled.

Step 2: Cut a half circle out of the middle of the bottom of your cereal box on both sides. These will be your elephant legs.

Step 3: Using your black marker draw an angle on the top quarter of the front, then draw a circle (these will be the ears) along the side of the box, if your ears go onto the back side of your box that is fine. After you have a round ear go straight across the back of the box and draw a similar round ear on the other side, finishing at the top with the partial angle. This will make the elephant have a head and ears!

Step 4: Cut along your outline.

Step 5: Paint your elephant. Also paint the flap you kept at the beginning.

Step 6: After you let the paint dry completely. Add lines down your extra flap for the elephant’s trunk wrinkles. Curl that piece at one end and glue it the middle of the cereal box craft. Add your eyes.

Step 7: Enjoy your cereal box elephant!
