Springtime Explorations

There’s something very special about springtime at The Elephant Sanctuary. With lush greenery in full bloom and warm weather settling in, the elephants are making the most of their expansive habitats—and every day brings new signs of exploration, connection, and comfort.

At Sycamore Barn and Habitat (formerly known as Q), Asian females Debbie, Minnie, Ronnie, and Billie have been especially active. Each morning, Caregivers scan the tall grass for movement—often catching a glimpse of elephants like Minnie emerging for some extra morning hay after a night of roaming and foraging. Minnie and Ronnie, in particular, have been spending much of their time together—sharing space, moving through the habitat and resting in the shade. It’s heartwarming to witness these moments of their companionship.

Over at Redbud Barn and Habitat (formerly known as Africa), Tange and Sukari were also recently spotted side by side, emerging from the tall trees and fresh grasses after a night spent exploring the far reaches of their habitat. Sukari made sure to carry a preferred stick along with her—perhaps saving it for later.

From quiet morning sightings to playful afternoon grazing, The Sanctuary is alive with activity and growth.
