American Picker Mike Wolfe has joined leaders from 13 rural Middle Tennessee and Northwest Alabama communities to launch a new regional movement dubbed "Nashville's Big Back Yard."
Located in downtown Hohenwald, TN, The Elephant Discovery Center is proud to be part of this natural watershed region anchored by 100 miles of the Natchez Trace Parkway and made up of 12 connected communities with populations under 5,000 people.
"Hohenwald means “High Forest” in German. This classic small town is tucked seven miles back into the trees along the Natchez Trace Parkway, just 85 miles southwest of Nashville. It’s a friendly, thriving community with loads of charm, a one-of-a-kind claim to fame, and a surprising wine country vibe."
The Elephant Discovery Center is open Thursday - Saturday, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. by appointment. Please call 931-796-6500 x109 or email Joy Owens at email@example.com in advance to check availability and schedule your visit. Please note: The elephants' habitats are closed to the public.
